Why give away half your virtual office revenue?

You already have the building, the address and the people on reception. You may well have customers asking for virtual offices already.

Running them yourself means handling customer checks, compliance, monitoring and post. For many operators that's reason enough to hand the service to an aggregator, along with a big share of the revenue.

Whoeverly gives you the tools to run it yourself and keep more of what you earn.

What running it yourself involves

Customer checks
Verify the company and the right people before the service goes live.
Compliance records
Keep risk assessments, decisions and evidence somewhere you can find them again.
Ongoing monitoring
Find out when directors, ownership or company status change.
Incoming mail
Log each item, match it to the customer, tell them and track collection.

Running the service yourself also means taking on its obligations, such as any applicable HMRC registration and supervision, written policies, staff training and competent oversight. The software is there to support that work.

Illustrative revenue comparison only. Running services in-house involves staffing, compliance, mail handling, software and other operating costs. Figures do not represent projected profit or guaranteed savings.

Revenue-share arrangements vary between providers and contracts. Use the figures from your own agreement.

Handing it over doesn't hand over the risk.

In the UK, providing a registered office, business or correspondence address as a business makes you a trust or company service provider under the Money Laundering Regulations.

That means registering with HMRC, checking every customer and keeping records you can show when asked. Giving half the revenue to someone else won't necessarily take those duties off your plate, and HMRC does fine businesses that get it wrong.

Register before you start

HMRC says you must not offer the service until your registration as a trust or company service provider has been approved. Failing to register in time is behind most of the recent penalties in this sector.

Someone else's checks are still your problem

If you rely on another business to check your customers, the regulations say you remain liable for any failure to carry out those checks properly.

No upper limit on fines

HMRC can set a civil penalty at whatever level it considers effective, proportionate and dissuasive. Serious breaches are a criminal offence carrying up to two years in prison.

The rules are strict. Following them shouldn't be hard.

Whoeverly makes the day-to-day part simple, with every check, review and piece of evidence recorded in one place so you can show your work when HMRC asks.

A plain-English summary, not legal advice. Whether and how the rules apply depends on how your service is set up. Registration, policies, training and decisions stay your responsibility, and Whoeverly supports that work without guaranteeing compliance.
